The Sheldon is getting ready for the 18/19 GRAND REOPENING SEASON! We can’t wait to share the renewed, refreshed, reinvigorated Sheldon with you soon! Tickets are on sale for all future events now. From May 26 – September 28, 2018; our building is temporarily closed to the public to complete a once-in-a-generation, 30 years in the making renovation project.

Renovation Update – the Latest News

Since 2012, we’ve been working behind-the-scenes to take good care of the beloved Sheldon. The already completed components of this multi-phase project include: removal and replacement of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (2012); installation of new, state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems (2015); refurbishment of exterior masonry architectural features and tuck-pointing of the brick exterior (2016); and restoration of the building’s historic windows (2017). A new roof and structural support repairs is underway this may (2018).

During the current building closure summer of 2018, we’re on track to complete the following:

Installation of ADA accessible restroom facilities
Interior architectural plaster repair and painting
Historic lobby tile floor repair and structural repairs to avoid future cracking
New carpet throughout public spaces
Creation of third floor studio space
Renovation of basement level under stage area to accommodate technical work space and contemporary artist preparation and hospitality spaces
Electrical upgrades including new security and fire alarm systems

These renovations are designed to preserve all of the grandeur, historic charm, and the uniquely warm embrace of our ‘jewel-box’, while adding contemporary features that set this venerable stage for the next 30 years.
