More great Minnesota artists on the Grand Reopening Season!
The 8th annual Caravan du Nord, a traveling showcase of the best in current Minnesota music created by Minnesota Music Coalition and sponsored by 89.3 The Current, features three bands on one night. Known for their abiding commitment to all things Minnesota music related, Caravan always hosts the hottest bands on the scene.
This year’s headliner is a legendary Minnesota band, the Suburbs. Monica Laplante provides support, and a local opener will kick it off. Often described as a Midwest Roxy Music, but with more humor and rock scruff, The ‘Burbs have been making their unique punk-pop-art-dance records and performing off and on ever since the ‘Mpls Sound’ heyday. The Suburbs continue to entertain at the highest level and remain one of the most creative and vital bands out there today, honoring their past and blazing into the future. As The New Yorker magazine said about their latest; “the ensemble maintains its quirky spunk and funky pop energy”, and music critic Chris Remenschneider tweeted after their last First Avenue show: “I didn’t get to see The Suburbs back in the day, but I see a lot of bands today and would rate ’em very high among ’em.”
This event features free education and outreach activities, led by artists. Click here for details.
