Experience the glorious themes from the movies with Colleen Raye and The St. Croix Valley Symphony Orchestra. This 50-piece ensemble and 30 voice choir is under the direction of Kristin Tjornehoj. Colleen Raye will be guiding us through this journey with world-class vocals, charisma and humor and you can even sing along on a few songs!
The show will have classic and contemporary songs like When You Wish Upon A Star, 9 to 5, Evergreen, I Just Called To Say I Love You, Skyfall from James Bond, The Greatest Showman music, The Way You Look Tonight, Over The Rainbow, Toy Story, Happy, Swinging On A Star and a host of others.
Colleen Raye is an accomplished singer, actress and entertainer. A native of Wisconsin, Colleen began her singing career at age 15 performing in her brother’s band, “The Tradewinds”. One of 7 children, Colleen is from a very music-oriented family and she carried on the tradition by going to college and majoring in music. While in college she performed in musicals, operettas, concert choirs, jazz bands, madrigals and vocal jazz groups.
Colleen has a natural freshness, outstanding rich alto voice, energy and charisma and a great sense of humor. Unusually versatile, Colleen captivates audiences with ease no matter what the genre.
Kristin Tjornehoj is the Director of Bands at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where she conducts the UWRF Symphony Band, St. Croix Valley Community Band and the St. Croix Valley Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Tjornehoj founded the Three Rivers Concert Band, a group of adult musicians from Minnesota and Wisconsin, who collaborate and participate in international outreach tours. She co-founded the Composers Conference at UWRF that brings chamber music composers together for a 3-day workshop with concerts and seminars. Dr. Tjornehoj has taught courses in wind conducting, history and literature.
