This is the third floor: you may have never seen it before because it isn’t normally a publicly used area, for good reason too. It’s kind of small, dark and sometimes messy.
We have been using this space for meetings or to store things as we prepare for events and fundraisers, the band has even used this space as a makeshift orchestra pit during the High School musical.
As the walls come down opening up this space, it is easy to let my mind wander about all of the possibilities for this area. It is much larger than I anticipated with an open, airy feel. The ceilings are surprisingly high and there are windows that overlook the house and stage, creating an amazing birds- eye view.
They will be installing REAL hardwood floors, which will be perfect for all types of performance rehearsals and the same footprint as the stage itself, although it will feel smaller because there are no wings (offstage, behind-the-curtain areas).
I am really excited about using the space for private and VIP parties before shows. People love attending these parties, having a drink before the show, maybe meeting the artist performing that night and this space will make that experience even richer.
I can imagine this would be an excellent space to hold smaller performances, one-act plays, artist workshops, receptions,,,,,hey even yoga!
The possibilities up here are endless. We really can’t wait for you to see all these updates. We are so proud of this theatre and you should be too!
