Whether it is Duke Orsino, consumed by love; the Countess Olivia, who has sworn off men, but as soon as one comes along that she likes, suddenly she becomes very interested, or Viola who gets desperately tangled up in a love triangle and tries her best to get untangled. And that’s before we even talk about any of the comic subplots that involve yellow stockings, a fake exorcism and a comic duel between two deeply unsuitable fighters. Twelfth Night is absolutely bursting with life, life lessons and huge swathes of it feel like it could have been written yesterday.
